Dear all DesqView (well QEMM386 really) and Windows3 wizards, Please help! I am trying to get QEMM386 and Win/3 to co-exist happily, and am running into problems. Firstly the problem: If I used loadhi and load a lot of TSR's into High RAM and then run Win3 in Enhanced mode it crashes after displaying the startup screen. Sometimes it freezes the whole computer, sometimes (rarely) it crashes to DOS in graphics mode with funny messages. The hardware: Its a TriGem 386V with 4MB Ram, ESDI disk and VGA. The configuration: In config.sys: DEVICE=D:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM BUFFERS=1 FILES=30 STACKS=0,0 country=044,437,c:\dos\country.sys device=d:\qemm\loadhi.sys D:\WINDOWS\smartdrv.sys 1024 512 device=d:\qemm\loadhi.sys c:\dos\ansi.sys device=d:\qemm\loadhi.sys d:\4dos\keystack.sys break=on shell=c:\4dos.com /l:d:\4dos /s:b /e:600 /p In autoexec.bat: @echo off cls d:\qemm\loadhi d:\qemm\buffers=10 set PATH=D:\WINDOWS;d:\qemm;C:\BIN;c:\links;C:\USR\BIN;C:\DOS echo Loading TSRs d:\qemm\loadhi exelink > nul echo EXELINK d:\qemm\loadhi keyfix > nul echo KEYFIX rem d:\qemm\loadhi /r:2 d:\mouse1\mouse > nul rem echo MICROSOFT MOUSE d:\qemm\loadhi d:\clockwor\simon /i /p echo SIMON (ALT-TAB) loadbtm on ramfree echo Programming function keys fkey /r fkeyfile echo Setting environment... set /r setfile echo Extensions known: .c .doc .fil .h .ksh .pas .wp alias /r aliases echo. date thisday fortune [Before anybody asks, no I haven't registered 4DOS or Simon yet. I am testing these programs out. I like both of them (especially 4DOS)] If I load the TSR's low then win3 is quite happy and runs around enjoying itself. But if I loadhi then I get a DOS shell with 592K free before entering windows. I guess this means there is a memory conflict in the 640-1024K region where Win3 is not recognising the memory as being taken. Manifest reports this region thus: A000-AFFF Vga graphics B000-B7FF High RAM B800-BFFF VGA text C000-C7FF View ROM C800-CB7F Disk ROM (ESDI disks so a seperate ROM BIOS) CC00-E7FF High RAM E800-F7FF Page Frame F800-FFFF System ROM I've tried all the obvious, but since the Manuals for both Windows and QEMM are pretty awful as reference manuals there could easily be info I've overlooked. I've even tried putting EMMExclude=CC00-E7FF in my SYSTEM.INI but this didn't help. I'm not too worried about losing some memory to Windows, but I want the most possible for DOS for the times I don't want windows.
