Sir--I don't own an FT757 but I've used one, in particular on Field
Day this past summer. That's a good test of a piece of gear!

It's ultimately simple to use and has lots of goodies including the
built in keyer. My only criticism is that since it's a fully
synthesized rig, you can't tune "smoothly" across a signal, you go
instead in 100 Hz steps. I suppose this is the wave of the future
in ham rigs, but it gives a whole new meaning to VFOs! At least
Yaesu still provides a "steering wheel" to move frequency instead
of up-down keys as are found on most broadcast FM receivers these
days.

The receiver is good, the CW filters are nice and sharp, etc. etc.

Jim:
I wonder what you think of the Yaesu's QSK? Is it smooth? Does it
work well at 25 or 35 wpm? How do they accomplish it (keying relays,
solid state switching)? Also, I was wondering abt the built-in keyer; as
an afficianado of bug keying, I'm always somewhat surprised to see a built-in
keyer in a rig. Can you adjust the weight (dot-dash ratio). Is it self-compl-
eting, I wonder. Also, have you tried using the RS-232 programmability? Does
Yaesu offer any software or accessories that make use of the port? I do
appreciate your initial comments and would like to hear more. Many thanks,
