*Story* I have LAN-software installed on my PC. Unfortunally it occupies 120k (paragr d000-eff0). I have also VGA so A000-C7FF is also gone. The other LAN-software and buffers occupy more than 100k of the lowmemory so at the end I have 370k avail for my programs (impossible to run win 3.0 in real mode (if you need it when some appls are not yet ported to win 3.0). *Problem* Quaterdeck 386 memory manager wants to have a consecutive hole of 64k to be able to generate its EMS-environment. However, the qemm manual says something that I understood that I do not need EMS but can still use *loadhi* to use some holes in 640..1024 area. I tried combinations of args to qemm.sys: RAM/(no RAM) OFF, FRAME=NONE, NOEMS but it always activates ems! Has someone understood qemm in similar situations? Perhaps I should use something else (386-to-MAX-pro? - today they are not supported windows 3.0, for us it is neccessary)? ******* please help someone ****** Roman +-------------------------------------------+ _--~--_ | Roman M. You can switch off the EMS frame with FRAME=NONE (at least in QEMM 4.13). Check it out with the QEMM command (at DOS prompt). But when you use the RAM parameter the state of QEMM goes to ON, which mean that other programs can not use real 80386 mode.
