Does anyone have any reports (good or bad) about software packages produced by Parsons Technology? I've recently received several offers of programs for $29, and from the descriptions, they look to be extremely good value. One is a 1991 tax form preparation package. At the asking price, it's cheaper than the upgrade for TurboTax. However, before spending my money on this, I'm interested in reports on their software generally. How reliable / bug free is it? How user friendly? How good is support / customer service etc when needed? Either post replies, or send me mail and I'll summarize. Richard Stanton pstanton@gsb-lira.stanford.edu

I have purchased the home accounting package and the tax package from Parsons. I used the tax package to prepare my return last year and found it to be much easier/cleaner than other packages I had used in the past. (In particular, I would *NEVER* by the Lasser program again. After entering all my information, it *lost* a couple of my forms. I had to submit my draft copies. The company sent me an updated version, which had the exact same problem!) No such problems with the Parsons program. The home accounting package does more than I need, is easy to use, and provides good quality reports. Their upgrade policy seems *very* reasonable. For example, I just got a flyer asking if (as a purchaser of last year's tax package) I'd like to buy this year's for 1/2 price. They say they'll send an early version almost immediately, with a final version when the IRS finalizes things. I like 'em! -- Ron Heiby, heiby@chg.mcd.mot.com Moderator: comp.newprod "Give me voice mail or give me drugs!"/"Mandatory Drug Testing? Just Say NO!!!"
