[comp.os.msdos.apps] School Library Program

gerard@think.com (Gerard Louise) (03/09/91)

I am looking for a program ( to evaluate, buy ?) that will handle the needs
of a small library (8000 to 10.000 books). This program needs to run on a
386sx machine (70mb disk drive).

This program needs to be able to:

	a. Generate catalog cards, shelf cards, book cards
author cards, subject cards (what ever card are used in a
regular library) and also spin labels for the books.

	b. Keeps track of the Database, so if anyone needs a book, this
person should be able to enter either the author name, the
subject or even a search string.....

	c. Updating the database should update all infos and generate
the apropriate cards (that should be easy enough !)

Basically, I am looking for something a little bit more sophisticated that
just a regular database. Some of the programs, I have seen on the market
are outageously expensive and would not fit the needs of a small library
anyway.

Please E-mail back to Eugene login is efmcg@think.com or call me voice
at (508) 883-1757.

Thank you very much.

I would also be interested in the whereabouts of such a program -
not only books, but also records, papers, etc..
