I got a number of responses to my query regarding small modem programs. I had asked for information on a program which would give me three basic things: terminal emulation of vt100, terminal mode control of the modem, and DSZ file transfer capabilities. The two programs which were mentioned (I think one person might have mentioned a third, but I don't remember) were {Commo} and RBComm. Both of these are very small. Commo requires about 64K with DESQView and includes a macro language. RBComm requires 45K if you don't have transfers set up and 65K if you do. It will run seamlessly in DESQView and functions with both DSZ and PUMA perfectly. RBComm seems to have better vt100 capabilities than {Commo}, as when I tried {Commo} for myself, my emacs screens were a little screwy. That could possibly have been the settings, but I am not sure. RBComm does vt100 automatically with the default emulation of ANSI. It also comes with a special termcap (except that the author forgot to include it in the 3.3 distribution file) which is slightly better to use than the vt100 termcap. I also like the RBComm macro language better. I actually don't have reasons for disliking {Commo} that I can remember. I only tried it briefly, and when I tried RBComm, I liked it so much I didn't bother trying to compare it to {Commo} any further. Thank you to all of you who responded either on the net or by email. -<>Dylan<>- MA EMT-M, CA EMT-1A, BEMCo 107 Dylan Kaufman Major in Computer Science morgan@chaos.cs.brandeis.edu Brandeis University, Waltham, MA ------<< Support your local Emergency Medical Services >>------- One can never have too much RAM or too much disk space. -- Ancient American Proverb, c. 1980
