[comp.os.msdos.apps] LaTeX for PC.

jaffar@gradient.cis.upenn.edu (Jaffar Rehman) (05/26/91)

I am looking for a version of LaTeX which would run on an IBM PC or
compatible. I know a large number of files that would comprise the
package are available for anonymous ftp somewhere. I would, however,
appreciate a response from someone who has already put these files
together into a running package for their PC and would like to share
the information.

Thanks much,

Jaffar

I am working with the EmTeX - package on my AT-Clone.
It works fine and with acceptable speed.
The package includes the following :
  TeX
  LaTeX
  METAFONT
  PICTeX

So it should work fine on any compatible and Printer.

The Package is available at ANONYMOUS FTP 131.234.2.32 in Germany
It should be available an several FTP-Sites in the US - I don't
know where.

Greetings, Erik |

Here's the U.S. FTP sites for emTeX (TeX, LaTeX, etc. for PCs) that I
know about. I haven't yet snarfed it for myself, however.

	labrea.stanford.edu:/pub/emtex
	pc.usl.edu:/pub/tex/msdos/emtex
	procyon.cis.ksu.edu:/pub/PC/TeX/emtex

Have fun...

The official US distribution (as told in the EmTeX documentation) is
what is now msdos.archive.umich.edu (it was terminator.cc.umich.edu).
