[comp.os.msdos.apps] Error Bars in Excel

rosen@newsserver.sfu.ca (Wilf Rosenbaum) (06/26/91)

Last week someone posted a request to this group (I think) for
information on creating a chart in Excel which showed error bars.
Unfortuately I lost the original article and address. Anyhow here is
one method:

 1. Select the data series in the work sheet that you want to chart.
Create a new chart showing this data. There should be three series
plotted, say the y series (the data itself), the yh series (the
upper y limit values) and yl (the lower limit values).

 2. Select Format|Main Chart from the chart menu. Set the chart type
as Line, and select the Hi Low Lines check box. Press Enter to
    accept these options.

 3. Make the yl and yh series invisible by using selecting the series
choosing the Format | Series (?) command and making the line
styles invisible. This must be done separately for each of the
    yl and yh series.

 4. You'll probably want to change the displayed symbols on the
yl and yh series to the small '-' character.

    Hope this helps.
