My wife is starting up her own business and ordered Peachtree Complete III to do accounting work. She received it last evening and I installed it for her. Installation succeeded without a hitch. However, during initial operation, we encountered a problem with selecting a floppy drive for backing up data. The default was drive A, 360K. We want to use drive B, 1.44M. When she entered the letter 'B', the program skipped to the next line (the density entry) and displayed a message something like "Please wait...Determining drive characteristics..." And there it sat, with the drive B activity light illuminated. Thirty seconds or so elapsed when I thought, "Maybe it's looking for a diskette", so I inserted a formatted one into the drive - to no avail. We tried everything we could think of to gracefully terminate the operation, without success. Even ctrl-alt-del wouldn't work! We ended up pressing machine reset, which of course, worked. The documentation merrily states that the software will display the available densities for the drive you select. Hell, When? Next Tuesday? This morning, I decided to call Peachtree customer service. HA! "Send money," ($99) said the nice man, "or, call your regional service center." So I called my regional service center. HA! "Send money," ($75/hr; $20 minimum) said the nice lady. "Consume excrement" I replied (discreetly) "I'll consult the net.deities." If anyone has experience with Peachtree Complete III, could you please assist by e-mail? Many thanks in advance.
