[net.ham-radio] About those equipment surveys ....

x
In regards to recent	Scanner	Survey	and Owner's Report
articles, I don't receive sample scanners from manufac-
turers for evaluation. As a	hobbyist, the	equipment I
review is that which I've purchased or	repaired for
myself or others, and had an opportunity	to evaluate
   "hands-on".

If I	haven't	had enough experience with a particular
model to make anything more than superficial	remarks, I'm
   timid about writing a review.

I would enjoy reading articles by owners of

      -	Drake DSR2, ITT	Mackay Marine, or TMC GPR90 general
	coverage receivers,

      -	Regency	MX7000/MX5000 or Z-series scanners,

      -	JIL SX400 scanners,

      -	Bearcat	50XL portable scanners,

      -	other scanner or shortwave receivers,

      -	scanner	antennas.

      -	receiver accessories (descramblers, tape recorder
interfaces, broadcast	band rejection filters,	Fox-
	Tango IF filters, etc.)

How does your equipment perform? If you've encountered
any	equipment failures, what parts	were defective? Was
it difficult	to repair? Have you found a way to "trick"
   it into doing something new?

Is anyone still actively using those	older, tuneable	pub-
lic	service	monitor	receivers, like	the Radio Shack	PRO-
2B, early Regency Monitoradios, or Lafayette PF series?
I've a shelf full of these vintage radios and collect
   more	every hamfest.

I hope you enjoy reading this stuff as much as I	like
writing it.	Thanks for your	support.
