Re: Perkin-Elmer Unix As of about a year ago (when we looked at a bunch of 32-bit mini's here at RIT), PE did NOT have virtual memory. The sales force, of course, touted this as a "feature", as programs would not be delayed while their pages were retrieved off of a slower, secondary device. This, coupled with their backplane capacity of 64Mb/sec, led us to believe that they were more oriented toward process control and data acquisition environments, where the delays of page faults could not be tolerated. Note that this was the case with their own OS (which I have heard is terrible from others on the net), but it's not likely that the hardware folks implemented stuff that the software doesn't use.
