[net.ham-radio] Kantronics UTU or equivalent

faunt@hplabs.UUCP (Doug Faunt) (01/20/86)

I'd like to purchase one of these, at as low a price as is reasonable.
I'm looking for a used one, or a pointer to a discount supplier.
I've seen them advertised for $169.00.
I want to copy rtty and CW, for casual SWLing, without using a
dedicated computer system. I'm willing to consider other approaches.

HP is not responsible for anything I say here. In fact, what I say here
may have been generated by a noisy telephone line.

I believe that there exists, and i think from Kantronics, a "SWL"
equivalent to the UTU, which has the transmit portions of the box
removed, and probably has not been beefed up from a RFI
susceptibility standpoint. So, if you NEVER plan to use the beast
for transmitting, you might consider this. I will try to find the
ad i saw for this.
