Have anyone heard of the "Stone" virus on the IBM PC? It's the one that puts a msg. like "Your PC is now stoned. Legalize Marajuana!" in your floppy disk boot sector. My father has a few PC's at work that have been infected by this virus and I had no success removing it(I tried booting from a clean floppy disk and formatting the hard disk and even that didn't work.) They do have a virus checking program called virex(vpcscan?); it will find the virus on infected floppy disks, but not hard disks. I consider myself fairly knowledgable about PC and DOS and I've tried the obvious ways to get rid of it; I can think of some esoteric ways that the virus can work, but I'd prefer not to do low-level format of all the hard disks if possible. So if anyone has any suggestions on curing this problem or can provide some insight into how the virus works, I'll be grateful. If you need any more info. from me, I'll be glad to provide them. Thanks in advance, --Lei

The stone virus is known for a number of years. It can be detected and removed by a program call diagnose.com(exe?). Try to look around the ftp sites to find it. If no luck, e-mail me a message and I will try to get a copy cross the network for you.
