[net.ham-radio] Response to Adnan Yaqub

Adnan, the Sony receivers you were referring to are the ICF-2002 which
sells for about $200 and the ICF-2010 which sells for about $279. I own
the 2002 and I'm very happy with it. It is very small and easily stuffed
in a briefcase or suitcase for travelling. I'm also happy with its
performance. It is quite sensitive even with the internal whip antenna
and really does well with an outdoor antenna. Of course being a small
portable radio it lacks features that a desk-top radio would have like
noise blankers, switchable if filters, etc. I don't know too much about
the 2010 other than it is the big brother to the 2002 and offers more
features. If I were going the spend the $200 for the 2002 I'd probably
just go the extra $79 or so for the nicer radio. (When I bought my 2002
the 2010 was just a sparkle in a Japanese designer's eye somewhere).
Good luck and I'm sure you'll enjoy either radio.
