I am having trouble with my modem. It will call out on the
phone line and get a response from the other machine, but will
not give me a 'CONNECT' response. Another symptom is that the
modem will not hang up when I issue an ALT-H command; it goes
through the motions and says that it is disconnecting, but
leaves me connected to the other machine.
I am using Procomm 2.43 on a 20 mhz 386. It is set to
com2- com1 has a mouse. The modem is a 2400 baud internal with
fax sending capabilities. It was sold by JDR Microdevices
under their name, but originally made by Prometheus.
The only thing that changed was the machine it is in. I
transferred the modem from my XT to my 386. Unfortunately, I
didn't save the Procomm setup files and have had to reconfigure
the program. I have tried moving the modem back to the XT, but
have the same problems.
Any ideas on what the problem is? I am hoping that it is
something simple like a configuration problem, not a hardware
problem.
Pete
