Hello, I have a need to be able to run the standard Windows3 printer drivers, but when the printer gets used, I need to be able to preceed the file with a ``special'' printer initialization string. The specific example here is that I have a couple of users who are connected to an intelegent printer sharing box, which has a couple of printers connected to it. You select the printer you want to use by sending the string ``$PRINTERx'' where x is the number of the printer you want to use. The maker of the box supplies a nice little TSR that you can popup, and sends the string to the printer, and away you go. Unfortunately, this doesn't work real well in Windows3. There are work arounds, but what we would like to be able to do (we have several of these boxes on campus and the number of Windows users is growing, so we want a ``nice'' solution), is set things up so that when the user goes into the print manager, and selects his HPII, the ``$PRINTER1'' gets sent, when he selects the HP Plotter, ``$PRINTER2'' gets sent, and so on for all of the printers; and all transparent to the users. Does anyone have any suggestions??? Thanks much, S. John Banner jbanner@sol.uvic.ca jbanner@uvvm.bitnet (Please avoid this address if possible) -- S. John Banner ...!uw-beaver!uvicctr!sol!sbanner1
