[comp.os.msdos.misc] MSDOS format /s

Can anyone clear this up for me...

If I 'format drive: /s' am I pirating the OS.  What are the legalities on this?

    You are allowed to format as many disks as you want with the system on
them, as long as it is in use only on one computer at any given time. The
license allows you to make copies for yourself. The only problem would be
formatting a system disk and giving it to someone else. You can't distribute
any disk with the operating system on it.
