FCC HAS AMENDED SECTION 97.61A OF THE AMATEUR RULES TO PERMIT
F2A EMISSION IN THE 29.5 TO 29.7 MHZ REPEATER SUBBAND.

ARRL HAD PETITIONED FOR THE AMENDMENT SO THAT F2A EMISSION, THE
PRIMARY MODE USED TO IDENTIFY BY TELEGRAPHY AMATEUR F3E
EMISSION REPEATERS, WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE 10 METER REPEATER
SUBBAND. FCC ALSO EDITORIALLY AMENDED SECTION 97.61A TO SHOW
F2A EMISSION IN OTHER AMATEUR BANDS WHERE REPEATER OPERATION IS
AUTHORIZED. THE COMMISSION SAID THE AMENDMENT WAS NECESSARY
BECAUSE THE EMISSION DESIGNATOR F2A HAD BEEN OMITTED
INADVERTENTLY FROM THOSE BANDS WHEN THE PREVIOUS EMISSION
DESIGNATORS WERE CONVERTED TO THE NEW SYSTEM AR

fcc has amended section 97.61a of the amateur rules to permit f2a
emission in the 29.5 to 29.7 mhz repeater subband.

arrl had petitioned for the amendment so that f2a emission, the
primary mode used to identify by telegraphy amateur f3e emission
repeaters, would be available in the 10 meter repeater subband. fcc
also editorially amended section 97.61a to show f2a emission in other
amateur bands where repeater operation is authorized. the commission
said the amendment was necessary because the emission designator f2a
had been omitted inadvertently from those bands when the previous
emission designators were converted to the new system ar
