[comp.os.msdos.misc] ROM addresses for low level formats

lamb@xtcn.com (Richard Lamb) (06/01/91)

Does anyone happen to know what the magic format addresses are for a
	WD1003-WA2 F002 X8D Controller
or where I could find out about the address ? I tried g=c800:5 to no avail.
I have no manual for the card.
Do I have to buy Spinrite to format my Rodime 3055 drive ?

				Thank You

If your controller does not have a low-level formatter you can
download a low level format program from Western Digital's BBS.
The number is 714-753-1234. I believe the file name is WDFMT.EXE
	or something close to that.

Try g=cc00:0005. This is the correct address for WD 1006 SR2.

Spinrite is not especially for low level formatting. e.g. Norton Calibrate
is similar. With these You can change the interleave without any data loss
and much more... Disk Manager by On Track also can perform low level
formatting.
