Well, I'd just like to add my two cents worth to this discussion of MS-DOS 5.0...

I recently purchased my upgrade copy of MS-DOS 5.0 for my ancient True-Blue IBM-PC/XT...
I haven't been able to  install it yet because the SETUP program did strange things to
my system...I typed SETUP and the floppy light came on and then I had a snowstorm on my
screen...looked like I had turned the horizontal and vertical holds all the way to one
side or the other => SCRAMBLED SCREEN... I tried the same diskette on another machine
(Tandy 1000) and SETUP started and ran fine... I've install hundreds of other products on my
(IBM) system and never had a problem...I can *still* run & install anything from Borland C++
to WordPerfect 5.1 to Quatro Pro to Procomm... with no problems... so I ran diagnostics...
sure enough, I got an error 501 from the IBM diagnostics. 501 => video controller / video
synch error...apparently my controller is going bad (which wouldn't surprise me since it
*is* the original controller purchased with the system new) oh well...time to get a new
controller...

Actually the point of this post is THANK YOU EGGHEAD...:-)
I ordered the MS-DOS 5.0 upgrade from them on a thursday afternoon (via telephone). I asked
them for 2nd-day air shipping. They told me...sorry, we don't recommend it, we can't
guarentee 2nd, we have a 48 hour delay/backlog in our shipping department...they are on
the west coast,  I'm on the east coast...2nd day air should get it to me by monday maybe 
tuesday...I figured what the hell, spend the extra $2.50 and use 2nd day air...Imaging
my surprise when I arrived home from work on friday and found a package from EggHead
waiting for me!!! 2nd-day air + 48 hour backlog = overnight delivery???????? 
Okay, it was a fluke.... the next week (thursday afternoon in fact) I ordered *another*
MS-DOS upgrade (upgrading my mother's computer)...again, the sales person said 2nd
air was a waste of time, 48 hour shipping delay, etc. etc. and again, IT WAS WAITING
FOR ME WHEN I ARRIVED HOME THE NEXT DAY!!!!!

Does Egghead ship outside the US ?  If so, what is their order phone# or fax# ?

The reason I ask is that when DOS 5.0 will finally be available here in
Iceland (hopefully next month), it will be a whole lot more expensive than in
the US.
