I just got hold of a spare 5.25" 360K disk drive, so I slotted it into my old '286, which previously only had a 5.25" 1.2M drive. The ribbon cable from the HD/FD controller had two female connectors on it, one for each disk drive. I reconnected the 1.2M drive and it works as well as ever. BTW I'm using MSDOS 4.01. However the 360K drive is not working properly. Firstly, it does have power, the access light is coming on at the right times, and the CMOS setup is configured correctly. When I try to do a directory on B: I get Not ready reading drive B Abort, Retry, Fail? To which I reply F. I then get Volume in drive B has no label Not ready reading drive B Abort, Retry, Fail? To which I reply F. I then get Fail on INT 24 Anybody have any idea what is going on? There is only one jumper on the 360K drive itself, and changing that did'nt fix the problem. There are several jumpers on the HD/FD controller but changing these did'nt do any good either. Help would be appreciated........ Cheers, Liam. =============================================================================== | Liam E.
