[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Using 256K on a standard VGA card in mode 0x13

bgarrabr@bonnie.ics.uci.edu (Garrabrant) (07/17/90)

I have a VGA card and monitor (not SVGA) and am using it in
mode 13 hex. I know that the card has 256K of memory because
it can run the 640X480X16 mode. I can right now only use the
64K from A000:0000 to B000:0000. Anyone know how I can get
that other 192K? I would like to use it for graphic image
storage. It seems a shame that all that memory is there,
presumably unused, and I cannot get to it. Does anyone have
any experience using more than 64K in video mode 13h?
  Thanks much!!
