Can someone out there summarize briefly the advantages and disadvantages of disks with stepper motors vs. voice coil actuators? I am considering the purchase of a new disk for my AT and at this point it is a toss-up between the 271R (65M RLL) and 2144 (122M). Does anyone have particularly good or bad experiences with either of these two disks? Should I be considering any others? On a related topic, what about the differences between various RLL disk controllers. I currently have an OMTI RLL controller and have been having compatibility problems with extended/expanded memory boards (the disk activity light comes on, stays on, and I have to re-boot). Does anyone have any sage advice on a replacement RLL disk controller? What about the differences/compatibility problems with Western Digital or ADAPTEC controllers? Are there any performance differences, or are they basically all the same? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
