A friend of mine in Beijing, China has problems with his EGA monitor (used with some IBM PC compatible): ``The display lights up rapidly, then disappears completely.'' He suggests as possible causes: 1. Due to transformer from 220 to 110. 2. Unreliable power line in China. 3. Bad EGA card. 4. Bad monitor. He is thinking of getting a new EGA card in the US (relatives of his going soon to Beijing) to try it, if it is not too expensive (EGA BIOS Ver. 2.4/33). He is asking me whether this is a wise move or if other things should be checked first. Anybody has a word of wisdom on this ? Please reply by email, as I do not read this newsgroup. Thanks for any help. -Andre Tits
