[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] XT cards on a 386

burton@kcl-cs.UUCP (John Burton) (07/28/90)

I am thinking of buying a 386 based machine to replace my aging 8088 computer,
but in order to save money I would like to use the EGA card / display and
the 20Mbytes hard disk out of my current XT (At least until I can afford
a decent 16bit VGA and a decent hard disk).
Can anyone tell me if there are any problems with doing this (apart from the
speed loss). I know that hard disks for AT type machines are different, but can
an XT type hard disk still be used?

If anyone has any comments, could they please reply directly to me as I
sometimes have trouble keeping up with all the messages in this list.

Thanks,
	John Burton
