[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] WD-7000: Worth something after all

niccum@cs.umn.edu (Thomas M. Niccum) (08/08/90)

First, Thanks for all who replied via e-mail. The mail was about
split, 50% had same or similar problem, 50% thought it was a great product,
and what are you complaining for.

Anyway, after more searching, I found in the SSTSETUP program, in the
ADVANCED functions menu is the format option. Pressing F1 for Help at
this point gives a lot of good info, including something like: Hey! Drive
running too slow? <120KBS???? Try reformatting using an interleave of 1.

Gee, wouldn't it be nice if stuff like this was indexed in the manual
instead of in a pragraph in the 5th screen of help on the 4th menu option???

Anyway, I'm now getting ~1MBS serial read performance which is a bit more
satisfactory!

-Tom
