I saw advertisement advertising *12ms* harddisk. I called them up and asked how this is achieved. They (salesmen) say that there is 64K of internal cache in the drive itself, which makes the "effective" access time 12ms in "normal" use (60% of continious read, 40% random read). They also menmtioned CDI interfacing method, which increases data transfer (512 byte blocks). My question is: Is it realistic to claim 12ms access time if we are talking about "normal" use ? Of course your normal may vary :-) I know Conner has a model with 64K cache, but they sure aren't advertising it as 12MS drive. Markku (jackin@vehka.uta.fi)
