we would like to know how to change the CHECKSUM in either PHNX 3.10 or AMI ?.? AT BIOS ROMs. We have updated the hard -disk look up table in the roms but can't rework the checksum. Also is the last ( FFFF:F ) address sum or modifier? n.b. We need to use the NEC D3142 (42 meg drive). thanx in advance jeff

All you have to do is adjust the value of _any_ byte in the ROM (assuming that byte isn't used for something else!) such that the arithmetic sum of all the bytes in the ROM, MOD 256, is zero. By convention, the last byte is used, but this is convention only. ---------------------------------------------------------- Gordon S. Hlavenka cgordon@vpnet.chi.il.us Disclaimer: He's lying
