[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Replacement H/D for PS/2 M50

WD-325N is Western Digital.
I do NOT think you have to buy the same one from WD. Seagate also make them.
Go out and shop around, $600 is too high. Try some mail order too, if you need
more help, send me a msg., I will get you some phone# to call.

NOT according to Western Digital ......(when I talked to them)

SEAGATE and WESTERN DIGITAL DO NOT make a drive that they will sell to you
or ME for the ps2/50... We used a SCSI Controller from FUTURE DOMAIN,
(714)-259-0400, the controller was an MCS-350 and the disk was a Seagate
*****SCSI****** drive, I think the model we used was an ST138N.
For approximately $600 we got a controller and drive combination that was
faster and an extra 10mb over the ibm 20mb drive; as well as the ability
to add SCSI tape and extra drives.

I really dislike the way IBM gets into perverted equipment, just to make
a few more bucks. The ps2/50 controller and drive combination REALLY is
a dog. Reminds me of an ST-506 5mb drive I used to have on a late 70s
  CP/M machine.... :^)
