This is a general interest question. My 386 motherboard (25 MHz, no cache) has a switch on it which allows a user to select pipeline or non-pipeline for the 30387. I have a program (ATPERF) that apparently can check for refresh overhead. With pipeline selected, the overhead is about 35.6 %. With non-pipeline selected, the overhead is like 6 %. But somehow, I feel that with pipeline selected, general applications run faster. So, what gives ? What is the pipeline thing actually do anyway ? Regards, ## Life is fast enough as it is ........
