I am getting ready to trash my old 10 MHz XT clone and buy a new computer. I have pretty much decided that I like the Touche Computer 33 MHz 386 machine. Has anyone used this? It uses a motherboard (AMI I think) which says it is "486 upgradeable". Does anyone know what this entails? I got the product list and information from them - but it doesn't mention any details. I eventually want a 486 machine, but I figure I can buy the 33 MHz 386 machine, and upgrade to a 33 MHz 486 when the prices drop. So, any comments on this computer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Erik talvola@janus.berkeley.edu +----------------------------+ ! Touche = good stuff. Not only do you get a slick tower system, with a speedy ESDI drive, you also get the NEC Multisync-eliminator - the Sony CDP 1304 monitor. The upgrade path to the 486 (and I am quoting the salesman from memory, so bear with me if I mess it up a tad), is "There will be a daughterboard available...late '90...about $ 1,800" So...if you really want a 486, you MAY wish to save up a bit, and get it from the start. OTOH, the 386/33 OUGHT be fast enough for most any purpose, and it sure does make it a bit easier on the budget (lower initial outlay, gradual upgrade with the math chip). I've had MY Touche over a month, now, and am highly satisfied.
