Is there anyone out there familiar enough with hard disk controllers to
be able to say how standardized they are? In my efforts to investigate
different network server configurations, I have wondered how many
third party AT disk controllers are compatible with the original IBM AT
controller. Can anyone say roughly what percentage of available disk controllers
are IBM AT HD controller compatible. How compatible are they? And most
importantly, HOW IN THE HECK can one find out this kind of stuff on his/her
own (besides the obvious posting and besides getting a job at a controller
manufacturer - I guessed that much). How about Winn Rosch's book, does he
cover this?
