[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Comments on Panasonic C1381 monitor requested

I (very) recently purchased a Parasonic C1381 color monitor. It is
spec'ed to run at rates up to 1024x768 interlaced. I have noticed
a couple of quirks and wondered if I should consider returning the
monitor and upgrading to a Sony 1304...

	1. The monitor uses relays(!) internally to support the
multisync capability. Switch from 640x400 to 800x600
and the sucker -clicks-. I'm concerned with durability.

	2. At 800x600 I begin to see the left edge of the picture
	    pincushion. Don't know about 1024x768 -- I'll be adding
the 2nd 256k bank of memory to my ATI Wonder shortly.

Should I shut up and be happy, or spend another $250 and get the Sony?
I'm sure somebody out there has experience with the C1381 and can help
with my decision.

We have been using the Panasonic C1381 for a while now and VERy
successfully. We drive it with an Orchid ProDesigner II card, and
get excellent results. YES, it does "CLICK" between changes and sometimes
even seems to rock (some long nights at the monitor), but it has
been reliable and consistent. We have used all sorts of software
Ventura, WP 5.1, Pagemaker, Windows/386, and a horde of other with
no problem.

Personnally I would stick with what you have, and enjoy.

Sony's first multisync also uses relays. Haven't seen their new one yet...
