[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] 80387 clock speed on Micronics motherboard

gichan@blake.u.washington.edu (Gilbert Chan) (08/29/90)

I'm forwarding this query for a friend, PLEASE send your responses to him
at bchan@ddn-eur.ddn.mil,

Thank you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a Gateway 33-386 with a Mironics ASIC motherboard (3/90 vintage).
I'm planning on adding a 80387. Knowing different manufacturers have
different ways to subdivide the system clock cycles. Does anyone know which
version of 387 I need?

On a second note, I posted an inquiry about "Can Hardcard Plus co-exist
with ESDI drive?" a few weeks ago. None has responded my message so
I'm posting it again. If you have successfully installed a Hardcard Plus 40
with an ESDI drive, please let me know.

Last but not least, I need to add more SIMMs. If you have some
good/bad experiences with various memory vendors, I would like to hear from
you. (Japan electronics [LA] advertised 70ns 1-Meg SIMM < $70/Meg at the
back of Infoworld magazine.)

Ordering stuff from the States thru' mail order can be a pain when you live
outside of the US.

To save resources, please email direct and I'll summarize for the net.

Thanks in advance,
