Dear netlanders, my 5 year old 20Mb Seagate ST225 finally died a few days ago. I bought a used defective ST225 and tried swapping parts for 2 hours. No luck! I looked into getting a replacement, and I got the following quotes in CAN $$$: Miniscribe 10Mb 8212 $150 Miniscribe 20Mb 8425 $225 Seagate 20Mb ST225 $275 Since my PC is used solely for small text editing and as a modem terminal, a 10Mb would be acceptable. Questions: Anybody with a 8212 cares to comment on +'s and -'s? Seagate's are designed for 5 years, and I got that. Miniscribe's? My H/D controller is a Generic WD 3:1 MFM. Any problems with 8212? Anybody knows the format parameters? 615CYL 615RWC ?WP ?ECC etc. I have the product manual for ST225. Any such thing for 8212? As always, many thanks in advance. If you are interested in this topic, just mention it to me and I'll e-mail to you what I find out. Regards, Franky
