I'm looking for opinion about Bios from Oak Techn Inc. for Super VGA 800x600 cards (card with `trademark' "noname" made in ROC/Taiwan) The card is very cheep, so i feel tempted , but isn't it too cheep to be good (50% of normal `fine trade mark and name' cards).....? 2. Where can I find drivers for MS-windows 3.0 for OTI 800x600? Thanks, Roman I bought one of the beasts a little less than a year ago -- the pricing was very attractive and I only needed VGA 640 x 480 at the time. I got drivers for Windows 2, etc. at the time -- I think they're now being distributed with vers. 3 drivers. The card performed OK on my old XT (was a 16 bit card but could run on an 8 bit bus), but when I moved it into a new machine the absence of well-documented drivers for 800 x 600 operation began to hurt. My dealer initially thought that PM OS/2 drivers would be available "soon", but it turns out that he was unable to get them. Hence I'm upgrading to an ATI (I already run OS/2 drivers with an ATI on another machine and am happy with them -- 800 x 600 vs. 640 x 480 really makes a bit difference for the work I'm doing). SO, if you're content with standard VGA 640 x 480 (for example, if you have a plain-Jane [apologies for any implicit sexism: maybe I should say plain-Joe] VGA monitor, I'm sure the OTI card will be just fine. Otherwise, pay the extra price and get a "real" 800 x 600 card with good documentation, BBS or some other form of support for updating drivers, etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Douglas Baer, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada N6A 5C2 Internet: BAER@UWO.CA Bitnet: BAER@UWOVAX
