I have been trying to format an rll drive (32 mb miniscribe) up to 32 mb. I am using disk manager by Ontrack. It initializes the disk to 26 sectors but will not format and install the dos. I have also tried to partition the disk with fdisk and then formatting with dos format. This results in the disk being formatted up to 20 mb with an installed system. I suspect that msdos may not know what to do with the 26 sectors produced by initializing an rll drive. Dos seems to format 17 sectors only. I don't know why Disk manager hiccups when I try to install the Dos system. Can anyone help me or explain what has to be done to format up an rll type drive. By the way, my hard disk controller does not have the debug method of initialization, and it is an AT controller.
