[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] All Charge Card

kelly@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu (Kelly Keller) (09/13/90)

I have been working with the All charge card, and have some comments and
questions. First of all, what we have learned. As mentioned before, the all
charge card is a tiny card that gives a 286 based machine some of the memory
management capablilities of a 386. It is bundled with software (not the best
that enables you to tailor your environment and memory usage much like that
of QEMM.
Some questions that we have:
The card seems to be effective but only to a point. We are trying to get it
to work in an Epson 286 with 2 Megs of memory. This machine has an IBM
token ring card and is attached to the token ring which is served by an AS400.
Does anyone know how to get this or some configuratation to work. This avenue
was suggested by a dealer who seemed to think that the all charge card would
enable the 286 to load the token ring device drivers into high memory and
leave the conventional memory for applications that run under PC Support
(IBM's method to talk to the AS400 from the pc). Do we have any options? We
have tried the Intel Above board, QEMM, and now this, we not much success.
Thoughts, comments?
