[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] More on strange SIMMs.

cnolan@vax1.tcd.ie (09/18/90)

I recieved a few replys to my query. I would just like to clear up one
point; I am quite aware of hte various types of SIMMs on the market, ie. 8-
bit MAC SIMMs, 9-bit PC SIMMs. These are the 'standard' types, what I was
looking for was a variant of the 36-bit SIMM used in PS/2 Model 55,70 &
80s. These SIMMs are quite different to the 8/9-bit ones.

Thanks to lexw@tds.philips.nl, he works for Philips' Telecommunications &
Data Systems division who would have been responsible for these devices.
He is quite sure that this is a proprietry Philips part, ie. not available
elsewhere. 'Tho I'd love to her to the contrary.

This info may be of use to others in Irish colleges as I know a lot of
these PCs were sold there last christmas.
