[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Bootup Error Message - VGA Card

polo@hagar.Solbourne.COM (Dave Polakowski) (09/19/90)

I recently upgraded my DTK XT clone box with a no-name (read: cheap)
VGA card and color monitor. When I boot the system, I get a single
beep (like I always did), then I immediately get a series of three "long-
short" beeps of a higher pitch. The system then goes through its
memory check and boots up normally. All modes of the monitor seem
to work as expected. This happens only with the new VGA card installed.

My question: is the machine trying to tell me something, and should I
worry about it since everything seems to be functioning normally? Any
insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
