As a matter of fact, some 8-bit disk controller cards _WILL_ work in 16-bit slots. Just not very well. I used a 20MB Hard card in my 386SX for about a month, with no problems. (Except it was rediculously slow!) It's not anything one would want to do, but it's nice in an emergency. Some cards won't work, but some will. David Dwiggins (dd2x@andrew.cmu.edu)
