Hello. I have a problem with the floppy disk driver( not actually, trouble to use floppy). I need your help. My floppy driver can not read the disk. I changed the control card, cable and disk drive itself. But I can not read the floppy disk. I tried the diskcontroller and drive with other system. Then they work perfect. Is it the problem of Mainboard? But in case of Hard disk it works perfect. I also checked and reset the CMOS configuration. I tried all that I can. But my final conclusion is the motherboard bug. But.. Hard disk and other works perfect.. Do you know anything which i can try to check or any suggestion? My system is 286 machine with Award BIOS. I have 1.2M and 360K drives and one 20M Harddisk. <Soonam> skahng@gmuvax2.gmu.edu skahng@gmuvax.bitnet

You might want to check the +12V supply. If the thing is fluctuating very much, your floppy might not spin correctly and data just doesn't get accessed. That's my input. By the way, test the supply under load, lest the problem not be apparent. I speak for myself, of course. My company won't let me talk. JimF from the rocking metropolis.
