[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Wild Mouse on PS/2 Model 25 & Model 30

larrya@well.sf.ca.us (Larry Appleman) (09/22/90)

On Model 25 & Model 30 (8086) PS/2 computers with PS/2 mice,
you can lose control of the mouse by pressing any key while
moving the mouse. From then on, the mouse-cursor moves in
ways that seem completely unrelated to actual physical
movement of the mouse.

I have tried several mouse drivers (Genius, as well
as Microsoft 7.03 and 7.04), and they all have this problem.
I contacted IBM Technical Support, and they told me this is
known as the "Wild Mouse" problem, and their solution is
"don't push keys while moving the mouse."

Is there a better solution to this problem?
