I am having problems with an Everex 2400b internal modem. The modem works very well in all modes except that the ring detect does not seem to function. I have, briefly, RTFM but am unable to find a test utility that will test the ring detect specifically. Did I miss it in the manual or does anyone else know a way I can confirm if I have a hardware problem or a configuration problem? I am not absolutely positive this modem has ever had a functioning ring detect (thus it could be a configuration setting I don't know about). I am running an HP Vectra 286 ES/12 with DOS 3.2. The ring detect is disfunctional with both Procomm and Kermit. The modem will answer with an ATA command. It just doesn't seem to be capable of detecting the ring, and, therefore, will not automatically answer the phone. Cables have been changed: no effect. ATS0=1 has been issued and apparently understood by the modem. Thanks in advance. Charlie Duke charlie@hplsdsa.hp.com
