I have a deskjet plus printer and was wondering if it was normal for the printer to print the numbers "2836" throughout the fonts when doing a test page (press reset and ff at the same time). Can anyone with a deskjet try it and let me know so I can make sure if anything is wrong or not with my printer? Thanks, Bobby Li tt3x@vax5.cit.cornell.edu

Sounds like your's is normal (unless you are getting a different number). BTW - It looks like firmware is rev 3.96 dated 89/01/27 (at least that is what prints just below the top of the page). /s/ Bob

The 2836 is the revision datecode of the font. (Week 36 of the year 1960+28). Eric Ross ericr@vcd.hp.com Hewlett Packard, Vancouver Division

I also get "2836" followed by Internal and then the font name and pitch for each font when I do a self test.
