From what i understand, some drives do have an odd number of data heads. The other head, and one platter surface, is used to store positioning info, etc, instead of all of that being written onto each data platter surface. Dont ask me why.. Robert J Miskines V127P9XG@UBVMS.CC.BUFFALO.EDU
