I'm currently running an XT-clone with an ARC motherboard and a 20meg Seagate hard disk. I'd like more disk space. What's the largest capacity drive I can install internally in my full-size desktop chassis that will be compatible with my system? What controller will I need to control it? I'm running DOS 3.3. Thanks, in advance, for any info. -- John Boggs McDonnell Douglas Electronic Systems Company McLean, Virginia, USA

I ran Maxtor 2190 which is 133 Mb formatted. I do not remember the model of the controller, but it was a regular Western Digital MFM controller with 3:1 interleave. The drive was divided into four partitions. --------- Leo Simon simon@pwrvax.enet.dec.com Who is not liberal when young, does not have a heart. I have an ST-277-1 in my XT formatted to 65MB with two 32.5MB partitions on a
Western Digital 27X card (RLL format). It is my understanding that the only
limiting factors in drive size in an XT are the controller card's drive
capacity limit (in the card BIOS) and the drive bay of the box (I had only a
half height bay left open). I am told the 27X can address drives over 150MB
without errors.
