[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Information on IDE interfaces Wanted

maniac@howlin.cs.unlv.edu (Eric J. Schwertfeger) (10/13/90)

Would anyone happen to have, or know where I can get,
information regarding the IDE interface, particularly about the
register and command sets of the IBM IDE controllers?
I've got a non-IBM computer, and I'd like to wireXrd disk
for it, and writing my own drivers. IDE seems to be the best way to
go for this, since the controller is imbedded. I need enough
information to either 1) hack my own IDE interface, or 2) use an
IBM IDE interface, and access it at the register level.
Just in case anyone is interested, this is for an Amiga
computer, and the only commercially available IDE interface is
$599 with a 20 Meg HD.
