I have a Toshiba MK234FC 100 Meg IDE hard drive in my 386-25 system. About 5 times a week or so when I'm accessing the drive, the drive will physically spin down and stop! Then spin back up right away again. It seems to do it the most when a lot of disk access is going on. I called Toshiba about it, and they thought it was a problem with the host adapter and not the drive. From the way I understood his explantion, there is one line from the host adapter to the drive that handles the interupts. If there are a lot of interupts on this line at one time, the host adapter could be getting confused and doing some sort of reset to clear things up. Has anyone else experienced any of these problems with IDE drives? The host adapter is made by TMC Research and has a 4 floppy controller as well. Charles

I noticed a weird thing about my IDE drive ... it's not a problem, but sems to be strange. I had a 40MB previously and then I got this IDE 105MB rodime thing. Since i got it ... the drive will just take it's time and be accessing something (as if it's having aproblem doing it). Nothing is corrupted, but it takes anywhere from 3-5 seconds for the light to go out. And this happens for no reason that I can find. Strange. Anyway ...my 2c worth. Dan
