First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who responded about getting my Paradise 1024 card working at 1024x768 with Windows. I downloaded some new drivers from the Paradise BBS and the 1024x768 display comes up fine. And now to the problems (sigh): My mouse dies after a seemingly random period. I've tried booting the system 'clean' (except for the drivers necessary for Windows), with no difference. When the mouse kicks off, windows still works through the keyboard, so it's not totally locked up. Killing windows and reinvoking it will temporarily get rid of the problem, however after a number of restarts, the mouse dies very quickly (usually before all of the windows have a chance to come up), then a reset will solve the problem. Windows apparently uses their own mouse driver, because it doesn't matter whether or not I install the logitech driver. This only appears to happen when the 1024x768 driver is installed. One oddity, though I don't think it's the problem, is that when I install the driver, the windows setup program stuffs a device=ega.sys in the config.sys, and I don't have ega.sys anywhere. So, has anyone else had similar problems? My hardware setup is: AT 12Mhz clone, AMI bios, VLSI chipset, logitech mouse, paradise1024 with 512K, (old) 8250 based serial card (which mouse is hooked to). I've tried yanking some of the other system cards with no difference. Any help is appreciated. Cliff Koch {uunet | mcdchg | gatech | att}!motcid!koch
